Introduction

The student house should be the students' house. By the students, for the students. To achieve this, the house will be run by the students themselves through a student association.

The student association will run the house on a daily basis, which includes running the cafés, pub, workshop and other rooms you can see in the floor plans and facilitating events such as company presentations, workshops, shows, exhibitions and debates. The association will also carry out more administrative tasks, such as marketing the student house, managing the digital, taking care of its members, collaborating with other parties and tackling other issues an association of this size will face. In addition, the association will work on other projects that promote our goal of making Oslo the best student city in the Nordic region. This includes larger social events, collaboration between students and businesses, digital platforms with useful tools for students and other projects that we students want and that will benefit us.

Who are we and what do we do?

In Studentrum's founding document, it states as follows: "

On September 1, 2023 at Rebel Arena, this assembly signs this
document in agreement to promote Oslo as the best student city in the Nordic region, by
uniting students across all educational institutions.

"

But what does this mean in practice?

Studentrum's main task will be to operate the student center when it opens. In the meantime, we will develop services for students, enter into partnerships with the public sector and businesses, design the contents of the building and spread the word about the student center.

Why join the student association?

This project, centered around the student house, is the biggest initiative to improve student life in Oslo in decades. Although Oslo is the city with the most students and educational institutions in Norway, Oslo does not feel like a student city. Many other student cities report higher levels of well-being among students than in Oslo. This is largely because the students are so spread out, both geographically, but also when you look at the interaction and social networks between educational institutions. We believe that in the future, the student house will be seen as the starting point for Oslo becoming a much more unified student city. If you have a desire to improve student life for other students, now and in the future. If you think it sounds exciting to build something new from scratch and be involved from the start. If you want to challenge yourself, build your CV with unique experiences, and learn how to start and run an association that in many ways will operate like a business? If you want to make student friends from all over Oslo, with whom you will participate in a lot of fun? Or if you want to help establish something historical that you will be remembered for? Then you should join the student association.
